We recently moved. My eldest child has been bullied mercilessly at school and was the saddest I've ever seen him. I'm homeschooling him at the moment and he came home a few days ago with two dogs. Went looking for the owner and turns out he's moved to a nursing home for end of life care, and his kids are selling his house. They don't want the dogs and are going to put the dogs in a shelter as they live in apartments and don't have the room. They asked me if I wanted to take them in (right in front of my kids!!) The dogs are lovely. My kids are obsessed. We live on a lot of land and have the space for them – but I have never owned a dog before and feel like I'm crazy for considering it. My friend told me to get a puppy and learn from the start but my boys (especially my oldest) has bonded with these dogs and just really wants to keep them. So I guess my question is am I being a crazy person to consider I could do this and provide them with a good home? I work from home and I'm here all the time but have zero dog experience. submitted by /u/Kind_Anybody7846 to r/DogAdvice |
