Apple (AAPL) released a beta version of its new iOS 18.1 to developers on Monday, offering a first look at Apple Intelligence and some of the iPhone maker’s new artificial intelligence (AI) features.

While the release doesn’t reportedly offer all of the AI features showcased at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June, they include improvements to Siri; upgraded photo search capabilities; AI-generated summaries for Mail, Messages, and voicemail transcripts; and text generation.

The move could help boost confidence in Apple’s AI potential, following reports the company might not release its highly anticipated AI update to the broader public until after its planned iOS 18 rollout in September.

The iPhone maker is set to report third-quarter earnings after the bell Thursday, when investors will likely be looking for more updates on Apple’s AI initiatives.

Apple shares were 0.3% higher at $218.57 as of 3:30 p.m. ET Monday and have climbed over 13% since the start of the year, with most gains coming after Apple Intelligence was announced.
