Dakota Fanning and Elle Fanning are ready for their greatest reunion yet.
The Uptown Girls star and The Great actress will take their sister bond to a new level, as they are set to conquer new territory: starring alongside each other in a movie.
“For the first time ever, sisters Dakota and Elle Fanning are set to star in a film together,” Sony Pictures announced July 22 in a joint Instagram post with the sisters, “in the adaptation of Kristin Hannah’s global book phenomenon The Nightingale.”
Dakota, 31, and Elle, 27, will also produce the movie with their company Lewellen Pictures, alongside Hello Sunshine, the production company founded by Reese Witherspoon, and The Cantillon Company. Reese had also picked the international best-selling book—which follows two sisters in France during World War II—for her Reese’s Book Club in 2023.
The film is currently scheduled to be released by TriStar Pictures in February 2027.
Though the Fanning sisters both appeared in the 2001 movie I Am Sam, Elle played a younger version of Dakota’s character Lucy, and the pair didn’t appear in scenes together. As a result, The Nightingale will mark their first time sharing the screen.
