Hobby Lobby Is Opening a Store in Tribeca

Ikea isn’t the only retail giant trying its luck in Manhattan right now. Crain’s reports that Hobby Lobby, the Oklahoma-based, birth-control-hating, illegal-artifact-buying arts-and-crafts chain, just signed a lease for a 70,716-square-foot space in Tribeca. This will be its second location within the five boroughs after the first opened in Staten Island in March.

The space at 270 Greenwich Street is, per Crain’s, one of the largest retail leases in the borough this year. Once open, it will reside inside the neighborhood’s little suburban retail zone, which includes Target, Whole Foods, and the ghosts of a Barnes & Noble and Bed Bath & Beyond.
