28 Years Later is now in theaters, reuniting Danny Boyle and Alex Garland, the writer-director duo behind the 2002 zombie classic, 28 Days Later. While 28 Years Later works as a standalone narrative, movie buffs might nonetheless want to revisit the rest of the series.
Even though it’s acclaimed as one of the best horror movies of all time, 28 Days Later spent years in the space between dead and undead, as it was unavailable to stream, and the DVD and Blu-ray versions were out of print. While it’s still not available on any traditional streaming services, fans can now rent or buy the film from platforms like Prime Video and Apple TV. It’s also streaming for free on Pluto with ads.
Previously, the only way to watch 28 Days Later was to find one of the out-of-print discs, which we spotted for as much as $200 on sites like Amazon and eBay.
If you’re looking to stream the 2007 sequel 28 Weeks Later, the best option is Hulu, which is available as a bundle with Disney+ and ESPN+ or Disney+ and Max. It’s also available to rent or buy from Amazon Prime.
28 Days Later stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer, and Ralph Fiennes. The latest sequel arrives 18 years after the second installment, 28 Weeks Later, which starred Robert Carlyle, Jeremy Renner, and Rose Byrne.
