Tonight’s (June 15) episode of The Walking Dead: Dead City brought back a familiar face in a surprise return ahead of the season two finale.
Star Jeffrey Dean Morgan opened up about the actor’s comeback in the episode, which he said he’s always wanted to happen.

In episode seven, Jeffrey’s real-life wife Hilarie Burton reprised her The Walking Dead character, Lucille, who is also his character Negan’s late wife.
Lucille’s return was brought in by way of hallucination as Negan grappled with a sick Ginny and reflected on past misgivings.
“We’ve been trying to figure out a way to bring her back into the show since she came on the first time,” he told People of her appearance. “I always wanted her back.”
“Eli figured out a way to bring her back, and we did,” he added, referring to showrunner Eli Jorné.
Hilarie first played Lucille in The Walking Dead‘s season 10 finale via flashbacks.
The Walking Dead: Dead City season two will come to a conclusion NEXT Sunday (June 22) on AMC.
