Joe Biden Issues Statement on Apparent Shooting at Donald Trump Rally, Hours After Speaking on Gun Control | Donald Trump, Joe Biden, Politics | Just Jared: Celebrity News and Gossip

President Joe Biden has responded to the apparent shooting that occurred at a Donald Trump rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday (July 13).

While speaking in Butler, Pennsylvania, popping sounds that have been identified as gunfire erupted in the venue. The 78-year-old former president was rushed away by his security detail but appeared to sustain an injury. The incident is being investigated as an assassination attempt.

Donald is said to be alright and did not sustain “life-threatening injuries.” The alleged shooter and at least one other person were reported to have died.

President Biden issued a formal statement. Another post that he shared hours before the alleged shooting is also going viral as it related to a call for gun control.

“I have been briefed on the shooting at Donald Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania,” he wrote in a message shared on X (formerly Twitter). “I’m grateful to hear that he’s safe and doing well. I’m praying for him and his family and for all those who were at the rally, as we await further information.”

He continued, writing, “Jill [Biden, First Lady] and I are grateful to the Secret Service for getting him to safety. There’s no place for this kind of violence in America. We must unite as one nation to condemn it.”

He also issued a statement to news media in which he condemned the incident and said that any sort of political violence is never alright.

President Biden noted that he has attempted to make contact with the former president.

Hours before the incident, the president issued a tweet that compared his stance on gun control to Donald‘s.

“I want to ban assault weapons and require universal background checks,” he wrote. Trump promised the NRA that he’d do nothing about guns. And he means it.”
