Jon Stewart Returning To ‘The Daily Show’ Part-Time Through 2024 Election

Topline

Jon Stewart is returning to “The Daily Show” as a once-a-week host and executive producer through the 2024 election—partially filling the spot that was left empty by Stewart’s successor Trevor Noah, who departed the show in December 2022.

Key Facts

Stewart will take over Monday night episodes of “The Daily Show”—where he was host for 16 years—on Feb. 12, Showtime and MTV Entertainment Studios told multiple outlets.

The rest of the week, the show will continue to have a set of rotating hosts, likely including comedians Ronny Chieng, Jordan Klepper and more who have hosted in the absence of a permanent host.

In a statement to the Hollywood Reporter, chief executive of Showtime and MTV Entertainment Studios Chris McCarthy called Stewart “the voice of our generation,” adding they are “honored” to have him return to the show and “help us all make sense of the insanity and division roiling the country.”
