The Lake County Mobile Food Pantry will continue to provide free produce to Lake County seniors with weekly distributions beyond this month, Laketran officials announced this week.
New distribution dates, April through September, will alternate between several locations throughout the area.
Seniors, 60 years and older, may register for one pick-up per month. Participants must certify annual gross household income at or below $25,759 for a household of one and $34,839 for a household of two, Laketran confirmed.
Pre-registration is required for the 100 spots available each week. To register for a pickup, call Lifeline at 2-1-1 or the Lake County Council on Aging at 440-205-8111.
Distributions will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. at the following locations:
• Lake Erie Church, 2300 Hubbard Road, in Madison Township – April 4, May 2, June 6, July 5, Aug. 1, Sept. 5
• New Hope Baptist Church, 428 W. Jackson St., in Painesville – April 11, May 9, June 13, July 11, Aug. 8, Sept.12

• Laketran Mentor Park-n-Ride, 8650 Market St. – April 25, May 23, June 27, July 25, Aug. 22, Sept. 26
Participants can also call Laketran at 440-354-6100 to arrange a ride to pick up produce.
The Lake County Mobile Food Pantry — a retrofitted 12-passenger Dial-a-Ride bus operated by Laketran — is a collaboration between the agency, Lake County Commissioners Senior Services, the Council on Aging, Lifeline, Inc. and the Greater Cleveland Food Bank.
Each entity plays a role in taking reservations, managing volunteers, and securing and distributing food, officials noted.
“This wouldn’t be possible without the donations and the dedicated volunteers,” said Laketran CEO Ben Capelle. “The program continues to expand and be successful because of the efforts of all the partner agencies and we truly appreciate each of the support to help us serve our seniors.”
