The Maldives government and the government of South Korea have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the field of tourism.
The MoU was signed during the visit of Special Envoy and Representatives of South Korean government official to the Maldives on March 22, 2023. The MoUs were signed by the Minister of Tourism Dr. Abdulla Mausoom on behalf of the Maldives government and the Vice President of the Korean Tourism Organization Lee Jae-Hwan on behalf of South Korean government.
The ceremony was attended by officials from the Korean Tourism Organization, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Tourism.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Mausoom highlighted the long-term relationship between the countries and the important role Korean market plays in the tourism sector of the Maldives.
The minister further assured that the Ministry of Tourism would facilitate strengthening of cooperation between the countries “through exchange of knowledge and expertise in tourism planning and research”.
The minister also highlighted cooperation in human resource development as well as the investment opportunities in the tourism sector.
