More Than 17,000 Ice Cream Cartons Recalled Nationwide Due to Contamination

Check your freezer—it might be time to toss out a few cartons of ice cream. According to an alert issued by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), over 17,000 cartons of ice cream products from Wells Enterprises, Inc. have been recalled due to plastic contamination.

Wells Enterprises, Inc., parent company of ice cream brands like Halo Top, Blue Bunny, Bomb Pop, and Blue Ribbon Classics, initiated the recall on April 25, 2025 and has been ongoing ever since, with a Class II classification issued on May 14, 2025. Class II recalls are defined as, “a situation in which use of, or exposure to, a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote,” the FDA’s website says. 103 distribution centers were affected nationwide, increasing the likelihood of the affected products being in your freezer.
