A popular Lakes Region restaurant reopened Saturday after a crash crashed into its dining room Friday night. A car crashed into Hart’s Turkey Farm Restaurant in Meredith. Police said the 51-year-old driver of the car was arrested for drunk driving and a man was taken to the hospital for injuries. Clean-up was underway Saturday at the restaurant, which has been in Sim Willey’s family for three generations. “First — is everyone OK? So, I could see the patrons hurt in this room were being taken care of by other staff members and guests,” Willey said.Despite the damage, the restaurant was back open less than a day later. Customers were eating their famous turkey-centric dishes just feet from the debris. “I heard that nobody was seriously hurt at least, and I was thinking of the family, Russ Hart, this has been family-owned all the years,” said long-time customer Janet Bayard. No one knows what Hart’s is dealing with quite like the Looney Bin Bar and Grill just down the road in Laconia. Earlier this summer, a driver crashed through their storefront. They are one of multiple businesses in the Lakes Region reaching out and offering their support. “We’re a tight-knit group. We really do have each other’s backs. We really do care for one another. Not just words, we’re always there for one another. My phone won’t stop,” Willey said. While there’s never a good time for this to happen to a business, Willey said he’s just grateful everyone made it out OK.
