Nutribullet’s New Rechargeable Blender Lets You Blend Anything, Anywhere

I use blenders or food processors nearly every day of my life. I have a smoothie most mornings, love whipping up a quick salad dressing at lunchtime, and I’m even prone to mixing a quick frozen cocktail if the mood calls for it. And as much as I look forward to an energizing smoothie, I occasionally think twice when I remember that I have to go to the pantry to get out my blender’s large base, make room on the counter, plug it in, and begin my routine — only to have to do it all in reverse when I’m done. On some level, I always hoped for an easier way. 

Recently, Nutribullet dropped the Flip, a portable blender with a super-insulated 20-ounce blending cup that doubles as a tumbler to sip from. In its price range, it’s an awesome new contender.

Luckily, Nutribullet sent me one to test out for my smoothie routine (and more). So far, this compact device has a lot of pros, and I look forward to discovering more as I make new dishes.

For one, its footprint is indeed very small, and it’s extremely easy to store. All in all, it’s basically the size of a large water bottle, and since the blending motor screws into the top of the tumbler, there’s just one piece to store. Its stainless steel blade annihilated all the frozen fruit, seeds, and veggies I’ve thrown at it so far; whether it was a smoothie, tomato sauce, or a salad dressing, I’ve gotten a pretty nice consistency on everything I’ve made. There’s definitely a bit of a learning curve since this isn’t see-through, like a regular blender or Vitamix pitcher; thus, if you want to make sure things are blending smoothly (pun intended), you do have to stop blending and unscrew the lid. But it’s pretty easy to nail once you get a feel for how much liquid you need to include and what your ideal texture sounds like when blending.

On that note, my smoothies have been luscious, if a bit thick. So far, no portable blender I’ve encountered can compete with my 1,200-watt Beast blender, but the tradeoff is absolutely worthwhile if it’s space and swiftness you’re concerned with. Using the Flip, the second you’re done blending, you can unscrew the motor, rinse it off, and be sipping your drink from a metal straw (included, of course) within seconds. There’s even a second, lighter lid you can screw on in place of the motor if you’re sipping on the go (or transporting something you’ve made, like hummus or dressing). And regardless of which components you’re cleaning, a quick rinse always does the trick. 

Finally, and possibly most importantly (at least for my cold beverage-loving sippers out there), the insulated stainless steel tumbler keeps my drinks extremely cold. I love getting to the end of a smoothie and still having it be chilly, and this tumbler absolutely delivers that experience.
