‘One Day’s Brendan Quinn Joins Cast of Dark Comedy ‘Scene House’

Brendan Quinn, whose role in Netflix‘s “One Day” landed him a best supporting nod at the National Film Awards UK, has joined the ensemble cast of “Scene House,” a dark comedy penned and directed by Annabella Fazio.

Quinn stars alongside Netflix alum Sayya Ingar (“The Witcher”), Nell Williams (“Blinded by the Light”), Denzel Baidoo (“Last Swim”), Selina Jones (“Raised by Wolves”), Aaron Teoh (“Wicked”) and Ivy Freeman-Attwood (“Two Neighbors”).

Looking at societal obsession with celebrity culture, the short film is set in a dystopian future where actors inhabit an enclosed area called The Scene House – an unsettling hybrid of a theme park and museum. Here, observers pay to enter and, for an additional cost, interact with the actors. One of these Actors, played by Jones, begins to question their existence in The Scene House as the boundaries blur between performance and reality.

“Scene House” is executive produced by Sarah Carter, CEO of U.S.-based Cheshire Moon Productions, and produced by Lia Lee for Limehouse Pictures.

Fazio, who lives between LA and London, said “Scene House” is a “physical manifestation of the concept of fame” and “questions what it means to become a famous actor in our society.”

“At some point, an actor becomes so valuable that they are protected and idolized for even more than their talents. I wanted to raise the question: What does it mean to reach that level of celebrity when your craft, and even your life, has been commodied?,” Fazio continued.

Carter’s debut “In Her Name” world premiered at Tribeca in 2022 and went on to win the Audience Award. the executive producer praised Fazio’s “passion and capacity to trust her vision and creative instinct,” as well as the “extraordinary team of artists she has surrounded herself with on this project.”

The short was lensed by Ravi Doubleday (“Inland”) with an original score composed by Ali Helnwein (“Made in Ethiopia”).

Quinn is represented by Avenue Agents, Nell Williams by 42 MP, Ingar by Caroline de Wolfe, and Jones and Baidoo are represented by United.
