Real Madrid Will Listen To Offers For Brazilian Star
Real Madrid will listen to offers for Reinier this summer according to AS, which cited anonymous sources.
Reinier was tipped by many to become better than his compatriots and fellow Madrid stars Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo while blossoming at Flamengo.
This is why after their purchases from Flamengo and Santos respectively, President Florentino Perez stumped up another $32 million (€30 million) for his services to avoid that sum growing further to $38 million and then doubling past $75 million as per his contract and related release clauses.
Perez beat the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain to Reinier’s signature and seemed to have pulled off another coup as when pipping bitter rivals Real Madrid to Vinicius and Rodrygo.
Yet while Vinicius and Rodrygo have more than paid off their $49 million (€45 million) transfer fees as two-time Champions League winners, with ‘Vini’ also primed as the lead candidate for this year’s edition of football’s highest individual accolade in the Ballon d’Or, we can’t say similar things about Reinier.
Being sent out on loan from a talent-packed squad to gain more minutes and experience shouldn’t be considered a step back for a youngster, but it telling that it never happened even once to Vinicius and Rodrygo while Reinier has had three different loans in four years since joining Madrid in 2020.
Landing temporarily at what is traditionally one of the best clubs in the world for nurturing prodigies in Madrid’s recent UCL final foes Borussia Dortmund should have been a boost for Reinier to find his feet, just like his next step Girona.
Yet the 22-year-old couldn’t kick on in either the Bundesliga or Catalonia which led to another shipping out to lowly Frosinone in Italy.
Reinier made an instant impact with a goal in his debut against Hellas Verona, and provided two assists in each of his third and fourth Italian outings versus Cagliari and Torino.
A muscle injury then hampered his progress, however, the return from which saw him net just one goal in 1,107 minutes overall while Frosinone was relegated.
Reinier told AS while in Italy that he was still “dreaming of Real Madrid” and making an impact at the Bernabeu.
That is now where he will return, but the same paper explains that Los Blancos will listen to offers for the fallen wonderkid aware that his contract expires in mid-2026 which means time is running out to recoup the outlet made on Reinier or perhaps even spin a small profit on his services.
