However, to deal with one of the major troubles, the admired social worker Santosh T. Dhuwali has come to the forefront. He has once again proved his devotion to society and its people.

Mumbai’s population swells during Ganeshotsav. One of the key rituals of this festival is the immersion, or ‘Visarjan’ of Ganesha idols into natural water bodies, typically rivers, lakes, or the sea. However, this traditional practice has led to severe environmental consequences. The immersion of idols made from non-biodegradable materials like plaster of Paris, chemical-based paints, and other toxic substances has polluted water bodies and harmed aquatic life.
Â
Thus, to conserve the environment, Santosh is planning to build a pond where devotees can immerse their idols, ensuring that the harmful chemicals don’t contaminate local water bodies. This practice of building a pond for Ganpati Visarjan has been in trend for a while now, and many people are already following it.
Â
Speaking of this, Santosh said, “Festivals are celebrated to add meaning to our lives and not damage our surroundings. This artificial pond will provide support to keep our natural water bodies clean and also foster development along with spirituality.” Well, this isn’t the first time that Santosh has built a pond for the ritual; he has already done it in 2021. Yes, you read it right! The leader had previously built a pond in Bandra, Mumbai, for Ganpati Visarjan.
Â
He received enormous praise for his work, and why not? He preserved the tradition while also ensuring it didn’t harm the environment. Besides this, Santosh has also indulged in various other social activities. He has always looked forward to uplifting society.
Â
The social worker also has a strong political background. He is the State Secretary for the Maharashtra NCP. Besides that, Santosh has a strong hold in Bandra and is also the observer for Mira Bhayandar. He is also a successful entrepreneur and owns multiple restaurants in Mumbai, Pune, Dubai and Thailand. His dedication to preserving tradition while promoting an eco-friendly lifestyle is truly inspiring.
