From Amalficore to “dark academia,” home decorating trends are consistently piquing our interest and drawing us in—and maybe even inspiring us to buy a new decor item or two. However, what’s “new and next” doesn’t always align with what most people are looking for in home design. So, we took a look at a recent report from Google Trends to find out the main design styles people are searching for right now. Here are the top five interior design searches from the past month, according to Google Trends.

Cape Cod

Now this design style is definitely in line with some major design trends we’ve been seeing over the past year. Remember the “coastal grandmother” design trend? Well, it’s not over. Cape Cod, as an interior design style, hits many of the same points. Think ocean-inspired blues mixed with warm, sandy tones and accents of natural textures, like rattan and jute. Inspired by a proximity to the beach, this interior design style tends to have a light and airy aesthetic reminiscent of an ocean breeze.

Luxury Bungalow

The term “luxury bungalow” was second on the list of top-trending interior design styles searched in the past month. This style, however, doesn’t have as clear of an image associated with it, since it isn’t a commonplace interior design term. In fact, “luxury bungalow” may make more sense as a real estate or vacation rental term, typically describing a single-story home that’s set amidst a lush natural landscape. So, when it comes to interior design, this style, like the Cape Cod style, is also inspired by its natural surroundings. Think lots of natural light, bright color palettes, luxurious textiles, and inviting furniture designed for lounging and relaxing.

Bauhaus

Bauhaus is the name of a German art school that operated from 1919 to 1933. The school’s approach to art, design, and architecture was so influential that Bauhaus became known as an artistic movement and distinctive style of its own. In interior design, the Bauhaus style is defined by it’s function-first approach to decor and furniture that has a modern, minimalist look. The main colors associated with Bauhaus style are bold primary tones, and the artwork is clean and geometric. Fun fact: Mid-century modern design is largely influenced by the Bauhaus era, so if you love that style, then you’ll probably be a fan of this German design movement, too.

Modern Spanish
