This Clever Pot Scraper Cleans Sheet Pans in Under a Minute

I love social media food trends—it’s how I’ve learned about everything from butter boards and grocery store tourism to using a milk frother to make tequila taste better. Occasionally, a device will take over my feed, with content creators waxing poetic about its virtues. (See the Ninja Creami and nugget ice makers.)

Recently, though, one caught me by surprise, especially considering how cheap and basic it is. The Matscover Pan Scraper has users lauding its ability to scrape debris off pots and pans in one clean and satisfying swoop — and it’s just $6.

Made from food-grade plastic that is non-toxic and heat-resistant, the Matscover Pan Scraper comes in a set of five. The sharp edges help glide through grease and caked-on food without leaving scratches, and all four sides are usable. The scrapers can also be used to clean grill pans, pots, Dutch ovens, and casserole dishes, or even to remove residue on walls, floors, tables, and clothes.

The versatility — and the low price — had me sold. Their stiffness pleasantly surprised me; I expected them to be more pliable, like silicone, but they are made from rigid plastic. And I had the perfect task for this tool: After cooking bacon, a bunch of the grease slid under my silicone mat, leaving my pan oily and gross. As someone with ADHD, I found the four clean, easy strokes I used to get the grease off deeply satisfying and appreciated that my pan was also back in tip-top shape after minimal effort. I gleefully looked around my kitchen for other items I could scrape. (I may or may not be purposefully allowing food to stick to pots and pans now just so I can use the tool.)

I’m not the only one who finds the Matscover Pan Scraper a great kitchen workhorse. One reviewer on Amazon said it’s “ideal for scraping” and that it “shows no signs of wear and tear yet,” sharing that they “haven’t even touched the other four [in the pack] yet.” Another reviewer cleverly called out that the scraper is good for things outside of cooking, saying they used the “well-priced” tool to “scrape old sticky stuff off of cabinets and make them look brand new.” As someone with a preschooler, this is music to my ears. A third reviewer gave it five stars, saying that the scrapers are “easy to use,” “hold up well,” and are “durable,” getting “everything” clean without causing damage.

While you might find satisfaction in rolling up your sleeves and putting a little elbow grease into cleaning pots, pans, and other household items, there’s something to be said about taking the literal path of least resistance. The Matscover Pan Scraper is a low-cost, highly efficient, and highly satisfying kitchen tool that should be in any home cook’s arsenal — especially since it’s on sale for just $6 on Amazon.
