While we tested the Shark upright vacuum specifically for hardwood floors, it’s useful for carpets, too. In fact, we found that the bushroll shutoff feature made it easy to transition between surfaces. The device has a long 25-foot cord and a spacious 0.9-quart dust cup, so you don’t have to stop cleaning to recharge or empty out debris. During our testing, the dust cup was large enough that it didn’t completely fill up during longer cleaning sessions.
