Trader Joe’s Issues Bottled Water Recall for Safety Issues

Attention, Trader Joe’s shoppers! The popular grocery chain has issued a recall for an item that’s likely on many grocery lists: Gerolsteiner Sparkling Natural Mineral Water. According to the notice on Trader Joe’s website, the popular beverage is being recalled because some bottles may be cracked or damaged. This recall was initiated after the mineral water supplier alerted Trader Joe’s to this safety issue.

This recall affects Gerolsteiner Sparkling Natural Mineral Water with the following lot codes:

  • 2024/28/11 24 2027/19/12
  • 2024/271/11 24 2027/18/12

Additionally, the now-recalled water was sold from 12/27/24 to 01/28/25, in the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.

Per Trader Joe’s, there have been no customer reports of injury or damaged bottles. The national retailer also noted that this issue was identified by research related to bottle breakage during production, and potentially affects just 1% of bottles with the lot codes specified above.

Due to this safety issue, Trader Joe’s is encouraging shoppers who have sparkling water bottles with the aforementioned lot codes not to use them. Instead, TJ’s recommends that customers dispose of these bottles carefully and quickly, and go to any Trader Joe’s location for a full refund.

Customers with questions about this recall may contact Trader Joe’s Customer Relations at (626) 599-3817, or send an email.

As avid Trader Joe’s shoppers may know, this is the second big TJ’s recall within a month. In February, the grocer initiated a nationwide recall of its Organic Acai Bowls because they were potentially contaminated with plastic pieces.
