Winona Ryder opened up about her special friendship with Keanu Reeves.

The actors have shared the screen multiple times over the years, starting with 1992′s Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

During a recent interview, Winona revealed that they keep in touch to this day. In fact, they even have cute nicknames for one another.

During an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Winona was asked about working with Keanu on a John Wick movie. While she was nervous about how she’d handle stunts, the actress described her longtime costar as “special.”

“We do text,” she said, “And we always say who it is, even though it says it on the text.”

She continued, saying that they call each other husband and wife after getting married onscreen in Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

She recalled texting Keanu for his birthday: “I was like, ‘Happy birthday, my husband!’”

“He’s like, ‘Hey, wife! Love you! KR, 57,” she shared. “On each birthday, he’s like, ‘KR, 57,’ or whatever his age is, and he’s always done that. He’s the best.”

Winona is headed back to the big screen in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, which premieres on September 6 – watch the trailer.
