1.1 Million Pairs of QVC Oven Gloves Are Being Recalled by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission

You may want to check your kitchen drawers if you recently purchased new oven mitts from QVC.

On Thursday, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission published a new recall for more than one million pairs of oven gloves sold on QVC’s television and e-commerce channels. The recall was triggered after dozens of injury reports and after the team discovered they were a potential burn hazard.

As the recall notice explained, the Temp-tations Oven Gloves “…can fail to provide sufficient protection from heat, posing a burn hazard to consumers.”

The recall notice added that the gloves were sold in single pairs, sets of two, and sets with drying mats or trivets. “The recalled oven gloves were sold in a variety of colors, including blue, yellow, red, floral, and summer shell prints,” it added. They were all under the following model numbers: K51459, K76398, K47973, K48879, K85322, K96004, K92603, K308719, K309220, K309388, and K309516.

Each of the gloves is made of cotton and elastane and comes in small and large sizes. You can identify the gloves by seeing if “Temp-tations by Tara” is printed on a label stitched to the inside of the gloves.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has received 92 injury reports related to the Temp-tations by Tara oven mitts.

To date, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission noted that QVC has received 162 reports of insufficient heat protection, including 92 minor burns. The gloves were sold between August 2018 and August 2024 for $4 to $13 a pair and in bundled sets with other kitchen items for between about $14 and $26 per set.

If you purchased the gloves, the agency urges you to stop using them immediately and contact QVC for a refund. You can do this via the online registration page QVC has set up for this recall. To get a refund, you must “provide photographic proof of ownership of your Temp-tations Oven Gloves.” Then, you can enter your case number if you have one. If you do not have a case number, you can check if your oven gloves are a part of the recall by answering where you purchased the gloves from and then by entering your personal information to be contacted for a refund.
