5 former Vikings make ESPN’s All-Quarter Century NFL team

Every once in a while, a unique collection of talent gets published together in a team. We have seen All-Madden teams, All-Century teams, and NFL Media has even done teams over the entirety of the league’s history.

On Wednesday, ESPN released a unique one: their NFL Quarter Century team, which showcases the best players in the league since 2000.

The Vikings were heavily represented by five players who made the cut. While they had five players, just two were homegrown, while the rest came to the team down the road in their careers through free agency or trade. The following players made the list:

– Randy Moss, Wide Receiver

– Justin Jefferson, Wide Receiver

– Steve Hutchison, Guard

– Jared Allen, Edge/Defensive End

– Patrick Peterson, Cornerback

Moss and Jefferson are arguably the two best wide receivers in franchise history, and will go down as two of the best all-time when it is all said and done. Jefferson has a long way to go, so he has a strong chance to surpass all the franchise records held by Moss at the moment in a Vikings uniform.

As for the others, Allen and Hutchison were on the team simultaneously and were a part of a pivotal time in the franchise’s history. The team was able to make it through a turbulent time where the quarterback situation wasn’t always great, but they were able to make in part due to their consistency and Hall of Fame play at their positions.
