Your feet deserve just as much attention when planning your look as the rest of your outfit, and can sometimes even make or break the entire vibe you’re going for. This summer’s sandal trends are stepping up in a big way, sometimes even serving as a statement accessory on their own. From asymmetrical strappy sandals to the ever-versatile kitten heeled mule, stylists say these are the hottest sandal trends this season.

The toe ring sandal trend is here to declare that feet deserve some accessorization, too. But it doesn’t have to be gouache or over-the-top. “The toe ring sandal is an extension of the minimalist trend, especially when you think of minimalist silhouettes with slim, clean lines,” says Dianne Boyer, a certified personal stylist and founder of Dianne In Style.
She adds, “The ‘barely there’ look of the toe ring sandal makes it a styling dream; it offers an amazing elongated look with shorts and dresses by avoiding the ‘clunkiness’ of a heavier shoe.”

Designers such as Bottega Veneta and Loewe have officially reinvented the classic strappy heel, this time with off-kilter, single-strap designs that wrap around the ankle in unexpected ways. “They are red carpet favorites for their sculptural appeal,” says John Smith, vice president of design at Poshele. “Pair them with a column dress or tailored trousers to highlight the architectural silhouette and keep jewelry minimal as the shoes are the statement.”
Jelly Textured Sandals
Jelly sandals were a huge trend in the ‘90s, and they’re back again but in a much more sophisticated iteration. Spring 2025 runways showed elevated takes on the nostalgic style, with designers like Chloé and Fendi re-imagining them in chic translucent hues, sculptural heels, and glossy, grown-up finishes. They’re the perfect way to combine a bit of playground playfulness with high fashion.
Heeled Flip Flops

Heels and flip flops have teamed up to create one of the summer’s biggest sandal trends. This surprising mashup fuses lowbrow and highbrow into one set of shoes for looks that serve playful and polished at once. Boyer says, “This style shows more of the foot, creating a dressier look in a comfortable way—there are no constricting straps. It also gives the illusion of a narrower foot without a band going across the widest part of your foot.”
Kitten Mules
Similarly, kitten heels on mules are a top 2025 sandal trend this summer. Spotted across the runways at brands like Prada and The Row, this easy-to-wear look channels quiet luxury with its sleek silhouettes, minimalism, and little heels that deliver the right amount of lift. From pointed-toe styles to meshed upper to buckled slides, the chic kitten-heel mules vibes with everything from tailored shorts to airy maxis.
Suede Sandals

If you’re a proud participant of the boho aesthetic trending right now, then the suede sandal is a must-have in your summer 2052 footwear collection. “Nothing says boho more than suede,” Boyer says. “And while it might seem counterintuitive for summer, the softness of the suede makes it ultra comfortable to wear all day.” One of her favorite ways to style this sandal is with a denim dress or shorts for a casual, relaxed look.

While we’re on the topic of boho vibes, let’s go ahead and shout out another one of the top summer sandal trends of 2025: hand-beaded, bohemian inspired flats a la designers such as Isabel Marant. Smith tells us “They will be dominating festival season and beach vacations this summer. Each pair feels like wearable art, with intricate embroidery and tassel details.” His advice is to pair them with a flowy maxi dress or high-waisted shorts for a carefree summer look.

Ancient Greece meets modern minimalism in this revival of another variation on strappy sandals. Meet the lace-up gladiator, as seen on The Row’s runway and styled by influencers for a “quiet luxury” vibe. “These sandals feature buttery leather, gold hardware, and ankle-wrap detailing,” Smith says. “With these trendy sandals, you must keep the rest of the outfit streamlined, like a white linen maxi dress or tailored shorts with a crisp button-down.”
