Top 2024 Open Championship predictions
One major surprise the model is calling for at the 2024 Open Championship: Ludvig Aberg, one of the top favorites at 9-1, stumbles and falls well outside the top five despite being tied for the third-lowest odds. He’s a golfer to fade in 2024 Open Championship bets.
The 24-year-old Swedish golfer carried the lead into Sunday at the Scottish Open last week before a fourth-round 73 took him out of contention. His second-place finish at the Masters this year proved that he’s close to breaking through at this level of tournament, but he also missed the cut at the PGA Championship and finished T12 at the U.S. Open. Another surprise: Tommy Fleetwood, a 20-1 longshot, makes a strong run at the British Open title. He has a much better chance to win it all than his odds imply, so he’s a target for anyone looking for a huge payday. The 33-year-old Englishman is a 10-time winner worldwide who is still looking for his first career PGA Tour win. However, ask anybody on tour and they’ll tell you he’s one of the best players in the world, as evidenced by his Official World Golf Ranking (No. 12).
Fleetwood is currently 25th in the FedEx Cup standings after three top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour this season and he’s only missed one cut in 17 starts around the world in 2024. Fleetwood won the Dubai Invitational in January and he’s also been top 10 in three of his last four appearances at the Open Championship, including a solo second finish in 2019 at Royal Portrush.
