Foo Fighters Cut Citi Field Concert Short Due to ‘Dangerous Weather’

Foo Fighters were forced to end their concert in Queens, New York early last night. The rock band was performing at Citi Field when a thunderstorm hit the Tri-State area. The venue confirmed that the show had “concluded” on social media, citing “the presence of lightning in the area.”

The band later posted a statement of their own, writing, “We are so disappointed that we were unable to play our full set for tonight’s fantastic crowd at Citi Field. But the safety of our fans, the crew and everyone working in the stadium comes first, so when it was determined that there was no safe way to continue the show in this dangerous weather, we had no choice but to call it a night.”

They added, “We’re grateful for every second we were able to play for you and looking forward to seeing you again – maybe as soon as Friday!”

The band, who are scheduled to play Citi Field again on Friday night, made it through 13 songs of their usually 20-plus-song setlist. The concert was cut off as they began performing “Everlong,” as seen in video clips posted to social media.

Foo Fighters are currently on their Everything or Nothing at All Tour, which continues through August. Frontman Dave Grohl recently came under fire from Taylor Swift fans for comments he made onstage during the band’s show at London Stadium, which happened to coincide with Swift’s concerts at nearby Wembley Stadium.

“I tell you, man, you don’t want to suffer the wrath of Taylor Swift,” Grohl said onstage on after the audience started booing in response to him noting that the singer also had a show in the city that night. “We like to call our tour the ‘Errors Tour.’ We’ve had more than a few eras, and more than a few fucking errors as well. Just a couple. That’s because we actually play live. What? Just saying. You guys like raw, live rock & roll music, right? You came to the right fucking place.”

During her third night at Wembley Stadium, Swift seemed to indirectly address the rock legend’s comments, noting: “Every one of my band members, every single one of our crew, my band who’s gonna be playing live for you for 3.5 hours tonight, they deserve this so much. And so does every one of my fellow performers. And you just gave that to us so generously; we will never forget it.”
