SVC Chaos Gets Steam Re-Release, Console Versions Coming Soon

SNK has been busy at this year’s Evo, thanks to three separate announcements presented during the show. Along with new characters for two other games, the company has also announced that SNK Vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos is back, and PC players can download it today via Steam–with PS4 and Nintendo Switch versions dropping on Monday.

The return of SVC Chaos adds multiple enhancements to the 2003 fighting game, including hitbox indicators for precise training sessions and a gallery of artwork. A suite of multiplayer options–buffered by rollback netcode–will also be available, with online lobbies holding nine players at a time and a tournament mode with multiple bracket formats built in.

The playable roster features 36 characters from both Capcom and SNK, and it includes well-known fighters like Street Fighter’s Ryu and Ken and Fatal Fury’s Terry and Mai, along with some deep cuts like Mars People from Metal Slug (SNK) and Tessa from Red Earth. This new version also unlocks the secret bosses from the arcade version–Athena and Red Arremer–for use at the start of the game.

SVC Chaos first launched in July 2003 as an SNK-backed project in the Capcom Vs. SNK partnership. Capcom released two crossover games of its own–Capcom Vs. SNK and Capcom Vs. SNK 2–before the partnership dissolved.

SNK Vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos is out now on Steam, with PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch versions set to launch on Monday. For more on Evo 2024, check out the full streaming schedule to watch all of the action across seven different Twitch streams.
