East Fork Pottery Is Opening in Brooklyn

East Fork, the Asheville-based pottery brand behind those social media-famous “everyday bowls” and other popular chunky-rimmed ceramics, is opening a Brooklyn store. The brand announced the news on Instagram today.

The Brooklyn location — the address of which has not yet been made public — will be East Fork’s first store outside the South, though the brand frequently hosts pop-ups in New York and other cities. Many of these are “seconds sales,” in which less-than-perfect items are available for a discounted price. Since it launched in 2009, the brand has developed a loyal following, with its limited-edition colorways inspiring a cult of collectors and an active resale market. East Fork, which is a Certified B Corporation, is also beloved for its transparency around its pricing, operating policies, and politics.

In addition to East Fork’s appearances at restaurants like Charleston’s Husk and Asheville’s Good Hot Fish, the brand has been leaning into partnerships across the food world and beyond. These have included collaborations with Momofuku, cookbook author Samin Nosrat, spice company Diaspora Co., tinned fish brand Fishwife, and home decor company Schoolhouse.

This would be the brand’s third store, operating in North Carolina and Georgia, plus a factory space not open to the public.

The Brooklyn store is set to open this fall. Follow the store’s account on Instagram for more information.
