Stray Kids Reach A Chart For The First Time With Their High-Profile Collaboration
Stray Kids released a new collection—this time dubbed a mixtape, not an album—just a few days ago, on December 13. Hop may impact charts all around the world in a week or so, but before it does, the South Korean superstars score a new hit in the United Kingdom, one which brings them to a ranking they’ve never seen before.
“Come Play” sees Stray Kids team up with some musicians they’ve never worked with before—and which many people may be surprised to see them paired with. The tune credits the K-pop favorites, as well as both Puerto Rican artist Young Miko and rock god Tom Morello.
The tune opens highest on the Official Vinyl Singles chart, where it starts at No. 26. Stray Kids appear on the list of the bestselling songs on wax in the U.K. for the first time with the high-profile collaboration.
The same cut is also new to the Official Physical Singles list, but it’s not the band’s first win. Stray Kids have previously climbed to No. 5 with “Christmas Evel,” which became a hit in 2021. “Come Play” enters that tally at No. 31.
“Come Play” appears to be the first hit on both charts for Miko and Morello, at least as soloists. Morello has spent his career playing in a number of beloved groups, such as Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave, but on his own, he is new to the tallies as well.
The collaboration was pieced together for the Arcane League of Legends: Season 2 compilation. The album that accompanies the animated series also features contributions from fellow musical stars like Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park, Emily Armstrong, Twenty One Pilots, and even Sheryl Lee Ralph.
While “Come Play” may just be debuting now, following a physical release, Stray Kids have already moved on to what’s next, as they work quickly. The band’s new single “Walkin on Water” may also become a chart hit in just a few days, when charts begin refreshing all around the world, including in the U.K.
