Peter Dinklage Joins ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ Spinoff

Dexter: Resurrection has booked another familiar name.

Peter Dinklage, who famously played Tyrion Lannister in HBO’s Game of Thrones, has joined Michael C. Hall on his Dexter: Resurrection cast murder board.

Dinklage, in a series regular role, will play Leon Prater, a billionaire venture capitalist. To the world, Leon is a generous philanthropist, but behind his polished exterior lies dark intrigue, reads his character description.

He joins the previously announced cast of Uma Thurman and returning Dexter franchise stars David Zayas, James Remar and Jack Alcott.

Dexter: Resurrection stars Hall as titular serial killer Dexter Morgan; he will also be the narrator, as he was in all of the previous series. The next show in the Dexter franchise takes place is present day. The series is currently in production in New York and is set to premiere this summer on Paramount+ With Showtime.

Showrunner Clyde Phillips previously explained to The Hollywood Reporter how all of the shows in the Dexter IP connect. Dexter: Resurrection, he said, should be seen as “the next season” following Dexter: New Blood, the revival series that aired in 2021 after flagship series Dexter went off the air in 2013.

In between New Blood and the forthcoming Resurrection is Dexter: Original Sin, the currently airing prequel series that releases its finale this weekend. The prequel has been flashing back to a young Dexter Morgan (played by Patrick Gibson) to provide his origin story on becoming the serial killer inhabited by Hall in present day. The opening to Original Sin served as the connecting piece between New Blood and Resurrection when it literally resurrected Hall’s Dexter, bringing him back to life after he was shot and seemingly left for dead in the New Blood finale.

Dinklage is an award-winning film, television and theater actor who is most recognizable for his Emmy Award-winning part in Game Of Thrones, for which he won a record four Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe. He most recently produced and starred in American DreamerThe Thicket and Brothers through his production company Estuary Films. He is also among the smash-hit Wicked ensemble, voicing Dr. Dillamond. His upcoming films include The Toxic Avenger and Lear Rex starring Al Pacino.

Dexter: Resurrection is executive produced by Emmy nominee Phillips, who returns as showrunner; and is produced by Showtime Studios and Counterpart Studios. Hall executive produces along with Scott Reynolds, Tony Hernandez and Lilly Burns, with Marcos Siega as producing director. Monica Raymund will direct four episodes; Siega will direct six. The series is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution
