Ohio State running back Quinshon Judkins reflects on transfer to OSU

The college football world was taken aback when the Ohio State football program was able to lure all-SEC performing running back, Quinshon Judkins, from Ole Miss to the banks of the Olentangy. After all, the Buckeyes already had a talented feature back, TreVeyon Henderson, so why would they want to add another and take carries away from each? Wouldn’t both yearn for more carries to improve their draft stock? Would one be left behind in favor of the other?

As it turns out, we got the answer to those questions. Both were plenty happy on a magical ride to a College Football Playoff national championship with both having their moments in the sun on the way to 1,000 yard rushing seasons for both. More than that, the splitting of the carries kept each fresh and explosive down the home stretch of a very long season, one in which we saw Ohio State forever be the answer to which team won the first-ever 12-team CFP.

For Judkins, the decision to leave a place he had already thrived in had to be difficult, and despite the success of the team and him individually, one might wonder how he feels when looking back on all that transpired when leaving the South for the frost and gray skies of the North.

Wonder no more, because Judkins sat down with Justin Melo of The Draft Network to discuss his time at Ohio State and let folks know more about him and how he fits into the upcoming NFL draft. And — according to Judkins — he wouldn’t make a different decision if faced with the same opportunity to leave for OSU.

“I feel like going from Ole Miss to Ohio State was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my life,” Judkins told Melo. “Not only did that move work out for me from a footballing perspective, but I also met so many great people and learned so many important lessons. I built relationships at Ohio State that will last me a lifetime. It helped develop me as a person and player. I’m going to be a better pro because of it.”

It’s hard to argue against Judkins. He won a national championship, is likely to be one of the top backs in the draft taken, and will forever have the Buckeye network, individuals, media outlets, and corporations to fall back on and use at his disposal from here on out in his life.

We’re looking forward to seeing where Judkins lands this April when the NFL draft comes to a high-definition television or streaming device near you from April 24 through April 26. It was only one year, but once a Buckeye, always a Buckeye. It’s how the “brotherhood” works in Columbus.
