Teams calling Giants about No. 3 overall pick

ESPN NFL reporter Peter Schrager reports that several teams are inquiring about moving up to the Nos. 2 and 3 spots in the first round of Thursday’s 2025 NFL draft.
Those two spots are currently held by the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants, respectively, and it appears that both team are actively listening to offers.
The Tennessee Titans hold the first overall selection and by all accounts, are pretty much locked into Miami quarterback Cam Ward. After that, the quarterback field flattens out a bit where most of the class is considered developmental.
As Schrager reports, teams are likely seeking to move up to grab one of three generational talents — Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter, Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter or Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty.
The selection of Hunter or Carter would be nice adds for both the Browns and Giants but would not likely make either club a playoff contender. But a trade back in which they would collect three or four additional picks would go a long way in helping them get closer to that goal.
The Giants aren’t likely to use the third overall selection to take a quarterback. Taking Carter is seen by some as overkill as they already have players (Brian Burns, Kayvon Thibodeaux) at the position(s) Carter plays.
Hunter would be a more useful pick for Big Blue as he would immediately become their No. 1 corner and also inject more life and speed to their passing game as a receiver.
