‘All the Sharks’ trailer: Photograph sharks, win money in Netflix’s new reality competition

Netflix looks to take a bite out of Shark Week with its upcoming shark-centric reality competition show, All the Sharks.
The series, hosted by Tom “The Blowfish” Hird, pits four teams of shark experts against one another. Their goal? To photograph as many types of shark as they can. We’re not just talking about some sharks. We’re talking about — say it with me — All the Sharks. Whichever team wins will earn $50,000 for their marine charity of choice.
To snap their shark pics, these teams will dive into shark habitats in six stunning locations: the Maldives, the Galápagos Islands, the Bahamas, South Africa, Japan, and Australia. Every shark contestants get on camera earns them points. The rarer the shark, the more points you get. Simple, right? Well, wait until you throw challenging diving conditions and fast-moving currents into the mix.
As someone with a crushing fear of both sharks and the deep sea, All the Sharks sounds like a Netflix executive found a way to turn my worst nightmare into a show. However, the trailer for All the Sharks is far from terrifying. Instead, its cast of passionate shark fans hopes to upend people’s expectations of these fascinating, ecologically important predators.
The full trailer above teases several breathtaking encounters with sharks, including a snake-like epaulette shark — a type of shark I didn’t know existed until now! And of course, it wouldn’t be a shark show without appearances from great whites, tiger sharks, and hammerheads. While I’m not quite ready to get in the water with these bad boys, I feel perfectly intrigued watching them — and the teams trying to photograph them — from the comfort of my own couch.
All the Sharks premieres July 4 on Netflix.
