FC Barcelona And First Team Player Agree Transfer

An FC Barcelona star on the fringes of Hansi Flick’s first team has agreed to leave the club according to outlets such as SER, citing anonymous sources.

Using X, formerly known as Twitter, SER confirmed that Pablo Torre has decided to play for RCD Mallorca.

“The saga is over; after considering his options, he chooses to play on the island,” the radio station explained, while adding how all that remains is to finalize the details of the sale between the two clubs and the layout of a buyback option.

Also on X, SPORT collaborator Quim Casademunt tweeted that the sale had been confirmed and that the defending La Liga champion will retain a buyback clause or percentage of any future sale of the young midfielder.

According to Casademunt, the sale is for €5 million to Barca’s Spanish top flight rivals, who in 2024 reached the Copa del Rey final.

If the sale is for this amount, Barca does not make a loss on Torre. That’s because it reportedly paid the same amount for him from Racing Santander in 2022, when he was talked up as the potential future of Spanish football alongside the likes of Pedri and since Lamine Yamal.

While those two stars went onto become full-fledge La Roja internationals and Euro 2024 winners, Torre, though an U21 regular, hasn’t yet made it to Luis de La Fuente’s senior side.

That’s not helped by the fact he’s struggled to secure regular minutes in Catalonia, either on the watch of club legend Xavi Hernandez or his successor Hansi Flick.

With the likes of Pedri, Gavi, Frenkie de Jong, Marc Casado and Marc Bernal in his way to mention a few hours, however, it is no simple task getting one of three spots in the middle of the park.

Still, although he probably would’ve liked to have got more chances and made a bigger impact, Torre leaves FC Barcelona a winner. Even in such a short amount of time donning Blaugrana, he is a two-time La Liga and Spanish Super Cup champion while having also lifted the Copa del Rey at Real Madrid’s expense.
