Addison Rae Announces Debut Album Release During Arca’s Coachella Set

The pop star used her pink undergarments to reveal the LP’s release date

Addison Rae had important news to share when she joined Arca onstage at Coachella: As she concluded her performance of “Arcamarine / Aquamarine,” the musician turned around to show the words “June 6th” written on her underwearing, revealing the release date for her anticipated debut album.

“I love you, Arca!” Rae said after the big reveal. “Love you too sis,” Arca responded. “Muah!”

The pair of musicians concluded their performance playing the chorus to “Arcamarine” one more time. Rae came onstage in a flowing white dress as Arca danced along to her remix of Rae’s single “Aquamarine.” Rae twirled ethereally next to the Venezuela electronic music diva, who delivered an overal avant-garde set, also bringing out Tokischa for a duet.

Rae spoke to Rolling Stone about her musical journey when she graced the cover of the magazine in February, revealing that she worked with songwriters Luka Kloser and Elvira Anderfjärd, who are signed to Max Martin’s publishing company, MxM Music, to produce the album. “Luka started playing the piano, and then literally, it was like magic,” Rae said at the time about making single “Diet Pepsi”

She also talked about her musical journey, sharing details about a pivotal label meeting that got her signed.

“I walked in with a binder, and I made a slideshow,” Rae said. The presentation was full of pictures and word clouds that she felt represented who she would be as a performer. “I just mood-boarded my vibes. I literally had no music to play him at that point, so it was about trust. Like, ‘Yes, I’m in the clouds, and I enjoy being there. But I’m also serious.’”
