Amazon B1G1 50% Off Book Sale – Popular New Novels, Box Sets, And All-Time Greats

If you’re light on reading material or want to fill up another bookshelf with interesting novels that you will read eventually, Amazon is running a huge Buy 1, Get 1 50% off book sale this week. With thousands of eligible books across all genres as well as box sets and collector’s editions, this is one of the best book sales we’ve seen at Amazon this year. After poring over Amazon’s catalog, we’ve put together a massive roundup of science fiction, fantasy, and horror fiction novels and box sets.
Amazon’s B1G1 50% off book sale includes many, many notable books, including recent releases like Stephen King’s brand-new novel Never Flinch, the fifth Hunger Games novel, Brandon Sanderson’s Wind and Truth, and all six hardcover editions of Matt Dinniman’s action-packed Dungeon Crawler Carl series.
You’ll also find a bunch of notable sci-fi and fantasy box sets in the sale, including the budget-friendly leatherbound box sets of A Song of Ice and Fire and The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. Beautiful collector’s editions of contemporary hits like Hugh Howey’s Wool, R.F. Kuang’s The Poppy War, and James Islington’s The Will of the Many are featured in the promotion. You can also add deluxe hardcover editions of all-time classics such as William Gibson’s Neuromancer, Frank Herbert’s Dune, and Arthur C. Clarke’s 2001: A Space Odyssey to your display shelves for cheap.
We’ve separated this roundup into a handful of sections, starting with two large lists focused on single books and novel box sets. Below the two lists, you can take a closer look at B1G1 50% off books from Stephen King, J.R.R. Tolkien, George R.R. Martin, Brandon Sanderson, Frank Herbert, and more authors. There are additional books in the author sections that you won’t find in these top two lists, so make sure to scroll to the bottom if you want to see all of the notable books in this roundup.

The following list contains individual books and largely focuses on newer releases, hardcover editions of beloved novels, and collectible editions.

B1G1 50% Off Book Box Sets
Note: Italicized box sets denotes books and box sets that aren’t B1G1 50% off but were worth shouting out because they are available for good prices and/or they are related to other box sets on this list.
Stephen King’s Never Flinch, Classic Hardcovers, Box Sets, and More

King’s newest novel, which was only just published at the end of May, is featured in Amazon’s B1G1 50% off sale. Never Flinch, a dark crime thriller starring Holly Gibney, is discounted to only $22.40 in hardcover format. To get the B1G1 50% off promotion, you could pair Never Flinch with one of the cool hardcover editions of an all-time King classic, including It, ‘Salem’s Lot, or Pet Sematary–all three of these hardcover editions are eligible for the deal.
Stephen King B1G1 50% Off Hardcovers
Though the four hardcovers below aren’t B1G1 50% off, they are available for terrific prices, and The Stand, The Shining, and Night Shift have classic cover art matching the ‘Salem’s Lot hardcover listed above.
Though it’s not included in the promotion, the massive Dark Tower 8-Book Box Set is discounted to only $69 (was $161) at Amazon. This trade paperback collection collects all 4,700-plus pages in King’s incredible dark fantasy series. And just like with Dune, the official graphic novel adaptation is also on sale. All three of the premium hardcover omnibus editions are discounted by at least 40%, and the first one is eligible for B1G1 50% off.

The Lord of the Rings Books & Box Sets

Tolkien fans who don’t own the popular Illustrated Editions can buy The Lord of the Rings Illustrated for $47.49 and get The Hobbit Illustrated for $20.50 with the promotion. The Silmarillion isn’t eligible, but it is on sale for only $32. The main reason why these versions have become so popular is that each one is illustrated by Tolkien himself. They are beautifully designed, too. All three feature Elvish script across the stained page edges, a ribbon bookmark, the unabridged original text in red and black, two removable maps, and a handsome dust jacket.
All three of the Deluxe Special Editions are up for grabs at B1G1 50% off. If you want The Silmarillion Deluxe Special Edition, just make sure to click “Other sellers on Amazon” and choose the one that is shipped and sold by the retailer. The LOTR: Tolkien Illustrated Deluxe Special Edition is discounted to $118.81 (was $250). When paired with The Hobbit Deluxe Special Edition ($119), you’ll save nearly $60 extra at checkout.

If you’ve thought about exploring Brandon Sanderson’s Cosmere universe, box sets featuring the first three novels in The Stormlight Archive and Mistborn provide a lot of reading material for cheap. Unsure which one to start with? Mistborn is a fantasy series that’s a bit more grounded and offers a more focused, character-driven story arc. Stormlight is a sprawling high fantasy epic with many intertwining storylines and a staggering scope. The fifth book in The Stormlight Archive series, Wind and Truth, released in December. Four of the five Stormlight Archive hardcovers, including Wind and Truth, are featured in the B1G1 50% off sale.
Notably, the trade paperback box sets of the first two Mistborn trilogies are up for grabs for roughly the same price. If you bought The Mistborn Trilogy (Books 1-3) and Wax and Wayne (Books 4-6), you’d only pay roughly $69 for six books. The seventh novel in the series, The Lost Metal, is also featured in the sale. Alternatively, you could get the first three books in both of Sanderson’s best-selling series set in the Cosmere for $36.79 total.

Notably, you can pick up the attractive leatherette pocket set–similar to The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit set–for $41. The mass market paperback box set is available for $28. A Dance of Dragons was published way back in 2011, mere months after The Wise Man’s Fear, the second novel in The Kingkiller Chronicle by Patrick Rothfuss. Unfortunately, Rothfuss fans have been waiting just as long for The Doors of Stone, which is supposed to complete the initial trilogy before moving onto the next trilogy. Since then, Rothfuss has published two Kingkiller Chronicle novellas, the most recent of which, The Narrow Road Between Desires, released in 2023. Both of the novellas are B1G1 50% off in hardcover format. But much like The Winds of Winter, no one knows when, or even if, the series will even continue.
All that said, both series is worth reading, even if they never wind up receiving proper conclusions. The Name of the Wind, Rothfuss’ debut novel, remains one of the most popular fantasy debuts of the century and all four of his books are satisfying on their own merits. Meanwhile, with Martin, you also have supplementary texts that are interesting and fun, including Fire & Blood, the basis for HBO’s House of the Dragon series.

Hugh Howey’s Silo & Pierce Brown’s Red Rising

Fans of Apple TV’s stellar dystopian sci-fi series who haven’t read Hugh Howey’s original novel series can get the box set edition of the Silo trilogy in Amazon’s sale. Six Red Rising books have released since 2014, with the seventh, final book still to come. You can catch up by grabbing a box set of the first three Red Rising novels for $31 (was $54).
