Amber Ruffin Comes Out On the Last Day of Pride

Talk show host, comedian, writer, Tony Award nominee and former Variety Power of Women host Amber Ruffin came out to the public on the last day of Pride.

Posting on her Instagram profile, the smiling star wrote, “In what will come as a shock to exactly zero people, I’m using the last day of PRIDE to come out! Be proud of who you are, little babies! I know I am! And I can’t wait to be discriminated against for a new reason!!”

The former writer for “Late Night with Seth Meyers” and host of her own talk show, “The Amber Ruffin Show,” Ruffin is also known for her recent work in theater, including co-writing the “Some Like It Hot” revival and, more recently, updating the book for “The Wiz” on Broadway.

Meanwhile, in her comments, a host of Hollywood names greeted this news with both excitement and support.

“Welcome home Amber!! Our team just keeps getting hotter and smarter!! Happy Pride, dear one,” Sophia Bush wrote.

Tan France from Netflix’s “Queer Eye” fame wrote, “Yay!! Happy Pride, love!! I hope you feel so loved and supported!”

“Wicked” star Cynthia Erivo posted, “Welcome baby love!! Bathrooms are to the left, refreshments to the right, grab a chair. The DJ takes requests.”

Lena Waithe wrote, “You are loved and seen and appreciated!!” and ended it with a little rainbow emoji.

Additional emoji posts of support included hearts from current “Saturday Night Live” actor Bowen Yang, and former SNL alums Vanessa Bayer and Aidy Bryant. Other voices that chimed in with their excitement included Broadway legend Audra McDonald, comedian Arden Myrin and “A League of Their Own” actor D’Arcy Carden.

The late-night host was married to Dutch painter Jan Schiltmeijer for over a decade until they divorced in December 2023.
