Aubrey Plaza made her first public appearance this weekend following the shocking death of her husband Jeff Baena.

The actress stepped out to attend Saturday Night Live‘s 50th anniversary special, where she introduced a performance from the crowd on Sunday, saying:

“Ladies and gentlemen, Miley Cyrus and Brittany Howard.”

The musicians sang a cover of Sinéad O’Connor’s hit Nothing Compares 2 U alongside The Roots.

For the special moment, Aubrey made sure to honor her husband in the sweetest and subtlest way, too! She wore a black blazer over a tie-dyed white t-shirt — something her husband used to love to do! When talking about the couple’s spontaneous 2020 wedding on a 2021 appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, Aubrey shared:

“Jeff got really into tie-dying during the [coronavirus] quarantine, so I decided that Jeff and I were going to wear tie-dye pajamas that he had made for us.”

And now she’s keeping the tradition alive. See (below):

Oof. So, so sad — but what a great way she can continue to keep him close as she mourns. The White Lotus star’s husband died by suicide on January 3 at age 47 and was found unresponsive in his LA home by an assistant, per TMZ. Aubrey later called it “an unimaginable tragedy” and asked for “privacy” as she grieved the loss, even deactivating Instagram. We’re sending her and all of Jeff’s loved ones lots of love as they continue to process this deep loss.
