Belly’s Married — to Jeremiah or Conrad?

The end of “The Summer I Turned Pretty” is right around the corner. On Wednesday, Amazon Prime Video released the first full trailer, set to Taylor Swift’s “Daylight” and “Red.” In it, Belly (Lola Tung) is in a happy relationship with Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) and the pair get engaged. Of course, she still has a continuous pull toward her first love, Conrad (Christopher Briney).
Season 3 picks up at the end of Belly’s junior year of college as she looks ahead to another summer at Cousins. Per Prime Video, “Her future seems set, until some core-shaking events bring her first love Conrad back into her life. Now on the brink of adulthood, Belly finds herself at a crossroads and must decide which brother has her heart. Summer will never be the same.”
In the trailer, Belly says in a voiceover, “First loves are important. But they’re not as important as lasts. I loved [Conrad] in a way that you can only do the first time around. But that is the past. Jeremiah is my future. This is the way it is supposed to be. He is The One.”
Viewers have been curious from the start about whether the show will follow the trajectory of author Jenny Han’s books. In the third book, “We’ll Always Have Summer”, the story jumps ahead; Jeremiah cheats on Belly, and ultimately, she ends up marrying Conrad at 23.
In addition to the main love triangle, Rain Spencer and Sean Kaufman will be back as Taylor and Steven, and Jackie Chung returns as Belly’s mom, Laura. Joining this season are series regulars Isabella Briggs and Kristen Connolly and recurring stars Sofia Bryant, Lily Donoghue, Zoé de Grand’Maison, Emma Ishta and Tanner Zagarino.
Han and Sarah Kucserka showrun Season 3. The duo executive produce alongside Karen Rosenfelt, and Paul Lee, Hope Hartman, and Mads Hansen of wiip. The final season, which will consist of 11 episodes, premieres on Wednesday, July 16.
