‘BOOP!’ Star Jasmine Amy Rogers Shuts Down False Tony Awards Rumor, Expresses Support for Performance Petition | 2025 Tony Awards, Boop, Broadway, Jasmine Amy Rogers, Tony Awards | Just Jared: Celebrity News and Gossip

The Broadway musical BOOP! has three nominations at the 2025 Tony Awards, but producers for the awards show have denied the musical a performance slot during the televised ceremony.

Only musicals that are nominated for Best Musical or Best Revival of a Musical are guaranteed a performance slot, but the Tonys sometimes grants performance slots to other shows if they’re able to pay an appearance fee.

Just in Time and Real Women Have Curves were not nominated in the top categories, but both shows will perform on the live show, which led Broadway fans to wonder if BOOP! can’t afford the performance fee.

BOOP! The Musical lead star Jasmine Amy Rogers, who is nominated for Best Actress in a Musical, is speaking out to dispel the false rumor and show support for a petition made by the show’s fans.

“I do just want to point out that BOOP! does in fact have the budget. That was not the deciding factor. 😂😂 They on the internet calling us broke! Jerry ain’t having that 😭,” Jasmine tweeted, referring to director and choreographer Jerry Mitchell.

A Change.org petition has over 2,000 signatures in hopes of getting the Tony Awards to grant a performance slot to BOOP!

The New York Post reports that the show was planning on doing a medley of act two opening number “Where’s Betty” and the 11 o’clock number “Something to Shout About,” to feature both the ensemble cast and Jasmine’s star-making performance.

Jasmine has already won Best Lead Performer prizes from the Outer Critics Cricle Awards and the Drama Desk Awards, the two main shows leading up to the Tonys.
