Celine Dion Presents 5th Pick at NHL Draft, Marking Her First Appearance Since Documentary Premiere | Celine Dion | Just Jared: Celebrity News and Gossip

Celine Dion made a rare public appearance at the 2024 Upper Deck NHL Draft on Friday (June 28) at Sphere in Las Vegas.

The 56-year-old singer helped present the 5th overall pick in the draft on behalf of her hometown team, the Montreal Canadiens, with the team picking up Ivan Demidov.

She was joined by her 23-year-old son Rene-Charles Angelil, who has been accompanying her at appearances amid her battle with stiff-person syndrome.

“Good evening everyone. I’m excited,” Celine said after taking the stage. “With the 5th overall selection in the 2024 NHL Draft, the Montreal Canadiens are proud to select Ivan Demidov.”

This marks Celine‘s first public appearance since the release of her new documentary I Am: Celine Dion on Prime Video, which gives a a raw and honest behind-the-scenes look at the iconic superstar’s struggle with a life-altering illness. Serving as a love letter to her fans, this inspirational documentary highlights the music that has guided her life while also showcasing the resilience of the human spirit.

Just last week, Celine hit the carpet and posed with Rene-Charles at the doc’s premiere in New York City.
