Chipotle Giving Away $1 Million in Burritos

After a rather lengthy pandemic, we all know just how important healthcare workers really are in our world. And Chipotle Mexican Grill wants healthcare workers to know we haven’t forgotten all their efforts then, and every day since. That’s why the chain announced today that it’s recognizing the healthcare community by giving 100,000 healthcare workers free burrito e-cards, which equates to more than $1 million in free food. 

It’s easy for healthcare workers to get involved. All they need to do is head to Chipotle’s dedicated microsite, where they can enter to win a free burrito e-card. The site will launch on May 6, and those interested can enter through May 10.

“Healthcare professionals have overcome countless challenges in the past several years, continuing to show up and selflessly serve our communities,” Chris Brandt, the chief brand officer at Chipotle, shared with Food & Wine. “We’re proud to continue to support these dedicated individuals and want to express our gratitude with a fresh and convenient meal.”

At the end of National Nurses Week, which runs from May 6 to ay 12, 100,000 of the healthcare professionals who entered will be randomly selected to receive an email to verify their healthcare employment status via ID.me. Those who successfully verify their healthcare employment status will receive a free burrito e-card on May 13. There is absolutely no purchase necessary, and you can check your eligibility (which includes home health aides, hospice aides, medical assistants, nurses, doctors, therapists, and more) here. 

But the fun doesn’t end here. To further support its 2024 campaign, Chipotle will be matching 10% of designated Healthcare Heroes E-Gift Cards purchased from May 1 to May 12 and donating to the American Nurses Foundation, a charitable and philanthropic arm of the American Nurses Association, whose mission is to achieve a healthy world through the power of nursing. Additionally, Chipotle will use its “Round-Up for Real Change” feature on the Chipotle app and Chipotle.com to support the American Nurses Foundation. Through the end of Nurses Week, everyone can round up their change to the next highest dollar amount on the Chipotle app or Chipotle.com, with the funds going to the foundation to further assist nurses across the nation. And if that’s not a good enough reason to buy a burrito this week, I don’t know what is.
