Starring Adam Scott, Zach Cherry, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, John Turturro and others, Severance season two is shaping up to be one of the best TV shows of 2025. (It has even inspired an unofficial website dedicated to the series’ fictional Lumon Industries.)
THR Television Critic Angie Han calls Severance a “better than perhaps any other show on television at capturing the indignities of modern work, using sci-fi exaggerations to cast our own dystopian reality into stark relief,” in her season two review. “As the Dan Erickson-created series enters its sophomore season, that sharpness as well as an insistence on the humanity of characters condemned to an environment hostile to it continue to be its twin north stars, guiding it over minor stumbles in momentum and mystery-box puzzling along the way,” she continues.
The finale of Severance season two released on Thursday, March 20. Produced and primarily directed by Ben Stiller and created by showrunner Dan Erickson, Severance takes place in the near future and follows Mark (Adam Scott), a team leader at the macrodata refinement office of Lumon Industries, a mysterious corporation founded in 1865 by Kier Eagan. Following the death of his wife, Mark opted to undergo “severance,” a procedure in which his personal and work lives are surgically separated. He and other “severed” employees of Lumon are unable to access their home life memories at the office, and vice versa — a move that supposedly renders them happier.
Season two of the Apple TV+ original series also stars Zach Cherry, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Jen Tullock, Dichen Lachman, Michael Chernus, John Turturro, Christopher Walken, Patricia Arquette, Sarah Bock and others. It has 19 episodes in total (nine episodes for season one and 10 episodes for season two).
