‘Clown in a Cornfield’ Trailer: Eli Craig Slasher Satire

Halloween is still seven months away, but slasher season is starting early this year thanks to the upcoming theatrical release of Eli Craig’s “Clown in a Cornfield.”
Best known for directing the modern cult classic “Tucker & Dale vs. Evil,” which earned acclaim among horror fans for its seamless blend of bloody horror and dark comedy, Craig returns in top form with “Clown in a Corn Field,” which premiered at the 2025 SXSW Film and TV Festival. The film was named one of IndieWire’s 15 best movies and shows of the festival. Adapted from Adam Cesare’s 2020 novel of the same name, the story follows a single father and his teenage daughter who find themselves navigating uncharted social waters when they move to a town that obsessively worships a brand of corn syrup that supports much of the local economy — and its creepy clown mascot.
An official synopsis for “Clown in a Cornfield” reads: “Quinn and her father have just moved to the quiet town of Kettle Springs hoping for a fresh start. Instead, she discovers a fractured community that has fallen on hard times after the treasured Baypen Corn Syrup Factory burned down. As the locals bicker amongst themselves and tensions boil over, a sinister, grinning figure emerges from the cornfields to cleanse the town of its burdens, one bloody victim at a time. Welcome to Kettle Springs. The real fun starts when Frendo the clown comes out to play.”
“Clown in a Cornfield” stars Katie Douglas, Aaron Abrams, Carson MacCormac, Vincent Muller, Kevin Durand, and Will Sasso. Eli Craig directs from a script that he co-wrote with Carter Blanchard.
An RJLE release, “Clown in a Cornfield” hits theaters on Friday, May 9 before streaming on Shudder at a later date. Watch the trailer below.
