Next Gen Women At Forefront Of Crypto Policy

As the blockchain and cryptocurrency industry advocates for a new policy and regulatory framework to foster innovation in America, young, diverse women are helping to drive that mission. At three of the most influential crypto advocacy groups are dynamic members of Generations Z and Y, also known as millennials. As we close out Women’s Herstory Month, let’s look at three leaders who stand out for their work to increase understanding of Web3 and decentralized finance in Washington’s political sphere.

McCall Wells, J.D., GenZ

McCall Wells is a Policy Fellow at Crypto Council for Innovation. She recently received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. Additionally, Wells participated in the Federal Communications Bar Association’s inaugural Diversity Pipeline Program and worked in Georgetown Law’s Communications and Technology Law Clinic. She has co-authored various policy reports.

Mara Abiera, Millennial

Mara Abiera is the Industry Affairs Associate at Blockchain Association, the largest advocacy group for crypto in Washington D.C. She works closely with the Association’s more than 100 member companies. Abiera has a background in space tourism, hospitality, and software industry. She is a graduate of George Mason University.

Francesca Bercasio, GenZ

Francesca Bercasio is External Affairs Associate at Bitcoin Policy Institute. She recently graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a bachelor’s degree in Financial Technology. She previously served as President of VCU Blockchain and is a founding member of the Virginia Blockchain Council, which advocates for policy.
