Dove Cameron‘s boyfriend, Damiano David, is helping her feel more confident with her singing voice.

The 29-year-old singer opened up in a recent interview about why she chose to utilize her powerful voice more with her new track, “Too Much.”

“I always felt like my voice was this instrument to be manipulated or changed, or something to fit what people needed of me. And I actually secretly harbored this belief that my full, real, true voice was ugly,” Dove explained to People.

However, Damiano, 26, who is the lead singer of Maneskin, played a role in encouraging Dove to embrace her voice.

“He’s very like, ‘Why aren’t you singing on these tracks? Why are you whispering?’” Dove explained.

Dove and Damiano have been linked since 2023, when photos surfaced of the two kissing on the beach.

As for her music, in a recent statement given to Just Jared, Dove explained the meaning behind the lyrics to “Too Much.”
