The store has a variety of sizes, making it an ideal place to find that oversized piece you’d probably pay hundreds of dollars for elsewhere. It’s about knowing how to zhuzh the cheap stuff so it looks like a million bucks.”

Dawson tells me she doesn’t always have the easiest time finding candlestick pairs at TJ Maxx’s sister stores, HomeGoods and Marshalls, but she often has the best luck at TJ Maxx. “TJ Maxx has candlestick pairs, yes pairs!” she says. “A surprisingly rare find at the sister stores.”

The right accessories are an easy way to elevate a bathroom, but they can be very expensive. One room that Bryant loves to accessorize with TJ Maxx items is the bathroom. “They have everything from tissue boxes to fancy soaps, towels, and decorative boxes,” she says.

You can even sometimes find upscale brands you’d see at department stores at far better prices.

Bryant says TJ Maxx is a great spot to find home accessories made of stone, such as marble or quartz, that are generally a lot more expensive at other stores. “I always look for stone accessories like candle dishes, trays, and decorative boxes,” she says. “Anything with weight and texture that adds polish.”

However, she warns against going for the more kitschy items or word art pieces. “I skip the overly themed knick-knacks, but I’m all in when they’ve got great marble or carved stone pieces,” she says.

Area Rugs

Bryant notes that while it’s not always guaranteed, she has found some great area rugs at TJ Maxx. If your local store doesn’t have area rugs, check out the selection online, so it’s easy to do your treasure hunt without leaving the house.
