Editor-Loved Bath & Body Works Candles, Mists, and More

There was a profound year when I didn’t buy any candles. And as a candle-obsessed person, that is quite the accomplishment. Alas, the “no buy” wasn’t because I was growing out of my candle phase; it was a result of my having bought far too many candles the previous year. I was fully stocked for a year (and probably more).

Of those that I lovingly collected, the majority were from Bath & Body Works. As a kid, I owned everything from the Sweat Pea and Cherry Blossom lines. Now, as a full-grown adult, I’m still loyal to the brand and have many seasonal favorites, including a new tomato-scented release that I’ve made my personality. It’s also overtaken the No. 1 spot for my favorite scent (sorry, Marshmallow Fireside).

I won’t even hesitate to say that I prefer these over the $100+ candles I own. (I told you, I’m obsessed with candles.) So, read on for this fragrance fanatic’s favorite Bath & Body Works’ scents, including three-wick candles, convenient room sprays, cute hand sanitizers, and more, starting at just $2.

My latest Bath & Body Works obsession is the new summer release called Off The Vine. It’s a tomato—yes, tomato—scent that rivals the depth and richness of several high-end designer brands that I own. I smelled it in-store first, and I quite literally gasped. It’s fruity without being over-ripely sweet, and there’s a hint of earthy freshness of the tomato vine that keeps the whole thing grounded. Imagine a small sweet tomato (like the honeybomb kind) that’s still hanging on the vine and was just spritzed with a bit of water. The scent comes in a three-wick candle, all the bodycare products, and it’s also available in a perfume (I have and love it).

The Booktok girls made this one go viral—and with good reason. The brand describes it with notes of crisp bergamot, neroli, and cozy woods, which may feel like a colder-weather scent, but I think it’s still suitable for now. There’s a lightness to it that still feels appropriate for warmer seasons. If you’re a fan of Diptyque’s L’eau Papier, this also feels like a loose dupe for the scent. Diptyque’s has a starchiness to it that Book Loft doesn’t have, but I think the lack of that quality actually makes it perfect for a room fragrance throughout the year. Plus, you only need to spray it once (max twice) to fill a room. I use these mostly in the kitchen when I want to quickly dispel any lingering food smells.

This is the fall and winter scent. It smells like a walk in a forest, one that’s just been rained on and has lots of moss. There’s a lift from the lavender note that doesn’t make it feel too heavy—or masculine—and it adds an instant coziness to the room. Mahogany Teakwood is one of the Bath & Body Works’ classic fragrances that’s sold year-round, but right now the Wallflower refill is on sale for just $4 during the brand’s Semi-Annual Sale event. You’ll need to use it with the brand’s Wallflower plug (starting at $10), but the $14 total investment will provide you with a long-lasting, rich fragrance in your room of choice. I have one in the guest bathroom and in smaller spaces, so the scent lingers more.

It’s tiny, it’s cute, it smells good, and it sanitizes your hands. During the pandemic, I didn’t need to worry about hand sanitizers, because I was stocked with these PocketBacs. Champagne Toast is one of my favorite scents for bodycare (and for summer in general), because it has this sparkly feel. It’s like the spa scent that many choose for a calming vibe, but there’s a little punch of fruity sweetness that makes it feel more fun. The fragrance notes are described as “sparkling berries and juicy tangerine,” but again, it’s elevated with fruit and not just a fruit scent. These small sanitizers are also great for goodie bags—and right now you can get six for $10.

I love fragrances, whether they’re in the form of a perfume, candle, body mist, car air freshener—anything. And even then, I still return to making purchases from Bath & Body Works. If you’re hoping to get a few new fragrances for your home or a lotion (or two) for summer, see more of my personal favorites below. Plus, several are marked down for the Semi-Annual Sale!
