Emeka Egbuka ’embodies everything we want’

When the Bucs drafted Emeka Egbuka, it felt like a rich getting richer type of draft pick.
The team had some needs on defense, but they instead decided to add another piece to an already elite offense. They were three deep at wide receiver in Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Jalen McMillan, but the addition of Egbuka makes them arguably the deepest, most talented starting four group in the NFL.
The idea of having all that for first-time play-caller and offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard has him grinning ear to ear.
When he spoke to the media this week, Grizzard talked about the player they selected out of Ohio State. When talking about his new chess piece, he said, “He just embodies everything we believe in here when it comes to being selfless, tough, disciplined, being able to play multiple positions. . .”
Egbuka has reminded many people of the positional versatility that Chris Godwin brought to the Bucs offense when he arrived in 2017. If Egbuka can carve out half the career that Godwin has, the Bucs will be doing just fine both on and off the field as a team and community with him.
It is fair to say, though, that expecting him to be near the same tier of player as Godwins should not be out of the realm of possibility.
