Hard Mountain Dew Is Giving Away a ‘Ditch Your Family’ Thanksgiving Trip

If the very idea of spending the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday with your family sends shivers down your spine, Hard Mountain Dew has a solution for you: Ditch them and take a vacation instead.

On Tuesday, the drink company announced it’s giving fans the chance to win a trip to wherever they want, anywhere in the United States (though it did add, “so long as it’s a place where HARD MTN DEW is sold”) with a plus-one if they don’t want to be in total solitude.

“Your time off is precious — as are credit card travel points — and we believe Hard Mtn Dew fans should be spending it far from the antics of the Thanksgiving dinner table,” Erica Taylor, senior brand director for Hard Mtn Dew, shared in a statement. “Instead, you should be getting out, doing what you want and pursuing your passions.”

Whether it’s taking your Hard Mtn Dew on a hiking trip through the nation’s highest mountains, sipping it on a beach, or anywhere in between, you can literally go anywhere with the giveaway, which includes “round-trip flights to a location of their choosing in the U.S.A. with hotel accommodations for three nights and four days,” and a “$5,000 spending stipend to pursue their passions while on vacation.”

To help ease the sting of being ditched, Hard Mtn Dew will even send your family a cardboard cutout of you so they can still feel like they’re in your presence, and will even cover the cost of their Thanksgiving meal. And, naturally, they’ll send along plenty of Hard Mtn Dew too.

From November 12–19, fans can enter by heading to HardMTNDewDitchYourFamily.com. There, you simply have to fill out your information and tell them why you need a break from your loved ones and what you’d rather be doing instead.

It will then select one winner based on submissions scored on “authenticity, originality, and desperation for a true vacation away from the Thanksgiving dinner table drama.”

As for the fine print, you must be 21 or older, a U.S. resident, and “must actually want to ditch your families for Thanksgiving.” So think about if you’re willing to make your grandma cry. Then go enter.
